About The Owners

Terry and Judy Foley are married and the owners of the K9 Academy Training Facility. (est. 10-2003).

Judy started her canine career as an Instructor in 1999 for obedience.  She began teaching her own classes, and personalized training, for obedience and fun time agility for all breeds.  Judy showed, and handled, Golden Retrievers starting in 1998, and ending in 2003 with a Champion Golden Retriever.  Judy started at the K9 Academy Training Facility in June of 2004. She is currently holding a Trainer status with NAPCH.

She has taught hundreds of owners and their canine friends in basic and intermediate obedience along with fun time agility.  She also assists teaching the Law Enforcement, Hospital and Private K9 Teams in basic and advanced obedience. Additionally, she is a Handler of a Narcotic Detection K9 for private security work.  Judy is a CGC Evaluator and conducts Seminars for Rescue Groups incorporating foster dogs into their homes.


Terry is a retired 29 year career Public Safety/Police Officer who worked in the K9 capacity for 25 years.  Upon retirement he also worked at St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor working a dog and is currently the Security Manager. He has handled 3 full service/narcotic detection dogs and 1 explosive detection trained dog.  During the 26 years of canine handling, and training, he has received numerous prestigious awards recognizing his accomplishments. Terry began his training career over 30 years ago training full service, narcotic detection and explosive detection teams. For over 17 years he began training Hospital and Private Security K9 Teams.

He is presently training over 85 Law Enforcement, Hospital and Private Security Teams at the K9 Academy Training Facility.  He is also a retired Master Trainer from the International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA) and a current Master Trainer, and President, of the National Association of Professional Canine Handlers (NAPCH).
